SXXI Century Oils
The launch of Castillo de Canena Family Reserve was the fulfilment of the know-how and dedication to the olive groves and olive oil of several generations.
We inherited the ancient and noble Picual and the sweet and fragrant Arbequino olive trees, and have worked with them to obtain previously unknown colours, aromas and tastes in these varieties.
This combination has enabled us raise Castillo de Canena to the top of the extra virgin olive oil world nationally and internationally.
Castillo de Canena Family Reserve, our core business, was followed by the introduction of our First Day of Harvest, something that had never been done before in the extra virgin olive oil market, combining tradition with innovation. The magic and excitement of the first day of the crop, presented in a unique red cherry bottle, which is instantly recognisable and totally related to our brand.
The fact that every single year a different personality of the arts and culture in Spain designs the label (Sara Navarro, Enrique Ponce, Joaquín Berao…) proves its innovation and vanguard.
But our enterprising spirit has made us look further than our heritage, further than the established and known, and imagine many new concepts, flavours and combinations in the extra virgin olive oil world that have never been seen before.
This is how the concept of CASTILLO DE CANENA, 21ST CENTURY OILS was born. Modern, conceptual and creative oils, where experience and discovery are the major factors.
21ST Century Oils. Second. Horizontal Tasting
Horizontal Tasting is the result of the surprising and exciting evolution of an alive and magic element: Extra Virgin Olive Oil. From the same variety of olive, Arbequina, from the same olive trees on our estate, with the same way of harvesting the olives, in three consecutive months, October, November and December brand new experiences are born. The result is three oils with totally different colours, aromas and taste. A sensory trip through time, from green and fruity olive oil suitable for starters; through golden and sweet oil excellent for fish and meat, and finally the sweetest and ripened fruits producing olive oil ideal for desserts. Three ways of enjoying the complexity of our Arbequina oils.
Main Differences Between Months:
OCTOBER: Color: green Aroma: fresh green apple Tasting: green apple, green almonds
NOVEMBER: Color: green-gold Aroma: almond, fruits Tasting: green apple, almonds and nuts
DECEMBER: Color: gold Aroma: sweet, almonds Tasting: ripen fruit, almonds
