Bean & Cricket Squares are a perfect savory treat that can accompany you thought the day. The are a great and immediate source of fibre and protein. They boost your energy and can be a great addition to your workout nutrition schedule.
Beans are very good source of protein, fiber, vitamins from B complex, potassium, magnesium, zinc and copper. Flaxseed provides a good amount of fiber, protein and vitamins from B complex. Crickets are an unusual, but highly nutritious addition. They are a complete protein source, rich in essential amino acids. They also have omega 3 and 6 fatty acids, and are high in calcium and vitamin B12.
- 70 g – 2½ oz Red beans
- 70 g – 2½ oz Black beans
- 50 g – 1¾ oz Cricket powder
- 20 g – ¾ oz Flax seed (ground)
- Reserva Familiar Picual Extra Virign Olive Oil
- To taste – Water
- To taste – Salt
Soak the beans overnight. Boil them in salted water. Set aside to cool. Blend them separately with some water until obtaining a thick and smooth consistency. In two separate bowls mix each bean mix with half of flaxseed and half of cricket flour. Incorporate everything very well.
Place the mix into molds of your choice. Place in the refrigerator for about 20-30 min. Assemble the dish as in the photo or to your liking, adding our Reserva Familiar Picual EVOO on top.
